Historian Michael Fowler's illustrated talk will cover flooding from pre-European times up to the closing era of the Hawke's Bay Catchment Board in 1989.
All of the major floods will be covered 1847, 1867, 1893, 1897, 1924, 1938, 1974, 1980, 1988.
There will be a particular emphasis on Clive, Napier and Esk Valley.
The richly illustrated talk will also cover preventative measures to flooding over this period.
Funds raised will go towards Surf Lifesaving New Zealand: Hawke's Bay Search and Rescue Squad.
