The Webb's and their stories were redolent of those of many early Pakeha migrants to Aotearoa. The challenges they faced were survival without mod cons, without electricity, and with many mouths to feed. Their reasons for coming were sad, but indicative of the times. Some of their stories will be told.
Students dress up in olden day clothes, play olden day games, make butter, role play washing and ironing chores to get a sense of what life was like duirng this period of early settlement of Aotearoa by Eastern Europeans. The progamme is about technology of the times, using now and then comparisons.
Build on the blossoming national and international interest in William Colenso's life and ideas as the result of the William Colenso Bicentenary Celebrations in Hawke's Bay in 2011, and a body of new publications and research.
