Making a Donation

The MTG Foundation has been set up to accept gifts that support the activities of the MTG Hawke’s Bay and that support the development and care of the Museum collection.

There are two ways you can gift funds to the MTG Foundation; a direct gift of monies or by leaving a bequest.

All donations of monies go towards the specific activities the MTG Foundation supports:

  • Collection acquisitions
  • Conservation and care of the collection
  • Education of Hawke's Bay children and visitors through the development of specific projects

The MTG Hawke’s Bay is hugely grateful for donations to the MTG Foundation. The MTG Foundation is a registered charity under the Charities Act 2005; therefore your donation may be tax deductible under New Zealand tax legislation.

For further information about tax deductible donations please refer to Inland Revenue (Inland Revenue IR 255).

If you would like your donation to go towards a specific activity please let us know.

Making a Bequest

A bequest is a lasting memorial to your love of art, culture and heritage. It is simply a gift made through a will, which can be worded to suit your wishes. For instance, you may choose to leave money to:

  • support collection acquisitions
  • support the conservation of the collection
  • support education of Hawke's Bay children and visitors through the development of specific projects

You may wish to bequeath through a will:

The remainder - When you have made provision for your family and friends you may wish to leave what is left; the remainder, to the Hawke’s Bay Museums Foundation Charitable Trust

A percentage - Many people decide to share their estate between a number of people and charitable organizations. They find that stating a fraction or percentage for each one allows for inflation or possible changes in their estate.

A specific sum - You may wish to state a specific sum of money. But please remember that inflation or changes in circumstances may necessitate regular review of your will.

How to make your Bequest

While you may draft a will yourself, we recommend that you seek advice from your Solicitor or the Trust's Executive Director.
