Napier’s ground-breaking street art project transforming unused walls into extraordinary works of art, with a message of ocean conservation, culminates this weekend with a one-day film festival at MTG’s Century Theatre on Sunday 20 March.
The film programme includes award winning feature and short documentaries touching on various aspects of crisis and conservation in our oceans.
The event is being organised by the PangeaSeed Foundation, who are partners with Napier City Council in the Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans project. Four of the international artists working on the Sea Walls will be at the Century on Sunday as part of discussion panel on their art.
Tre Packard, Founder of PangeaSeed said the films include the best award-winning documentaries from the World Oceans Day Film Festival. The Sunday screenings begin at 10.30am with Shark Girl, which is “a great introductory film - especially for younger ocean lovers”. Also showing is the internationally acclaimed New Zealand documentary Speechless: The Polar Realm - beautifully filmed by New Zealand nature photographer Richard Sidey over the past decade throughout the Earth’s polar regions, which he describes as “spectacular”.
Tickets to the one-day film event include access to all six film screenings, the artist panel discussion and entry to the museum.
Adults $10, Students/Concessions/MTG Friends $7.50, Children<15 Free. Purchase tickets at MTG Hawke’s Bay or MTG Century Theatre.
